My first attempt at "Couponing"

I have been wanting really, really, really bad to learn how to save hundreds of dollars on my shopping like the "big girls" do. I have researched and read articles, even have the amazing coupon binders. The final act was to bite the bullet and order the $20.00/month Post Register coupon special subscription. For some reason I just couldn't talk myself into spending the $20.00 per month when I was trying to save money. Does that sound sensible to anyone else? Well, I bit the bullet, ordered the subscription and ventured out for my first trip. I don't think I did to bad...probably couponers out there as I write this freaking out because I paid to much, but I will "get it" with time...I hope! With double coupons from Albertson's, manufacturer coupons, sale prices and a catalina here is what I was able to get...

* 6 pounds of hamburger (Not pictured)
* 2 containers of sour cream
* 2 boxes of gogurts
* 4 bags of hash browns
* 5 boxes of Tide laundry detergent
* 5 bottles of salad dressing

Regular Price $118.00
I Paid: $ 38.00
Saved: $ 80.00

Why would you tell your mommy at 7:00 a.m. that it's Spirit Day...TODAY?

Yep...7 o' clock this morning and Samantha says "Mom, it's spirit day so you need to help me dress up in like 80's or 90's or 70's or something." I said, "really? Today? You couldn't have told me this a couple days ago? What do you have to dress up like?" She said, "I don't know, the 80's or 20's or something."

WOW! Good thing it's Friday and this week is almost over because it has definately been a LOOOONG one! I told her to go for the 80's and this is what she came up with (almost) all on her own. I suggested the side pony tail! Good thing she remembered dressing up for Aunt Chris' 80's themed birthday party! Sure hope it wasn't the 1880's or something like that because she would sure look silly! LOL

What in the world is going on?

I have "this feeling"...

Has anyone else suffered from a feeling that they couldn't quite understand? It's like I know something is going to happen, just don't know what or if it will be good or bad. This is not a new feeling; I have had it for several months now but today I am anxious about it more than usual. Just needed to "put it out there" and see if anyone else can relate to this feeling!?!

Hodgkins Lymphoma

A great friend of mine at work found out over the weekend that her son, who is 25 years old, has Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

I didn't know very much about this disease, other than it was cancer. I did some research online and found out that it's cancer of the lymphatic system which happens to be part of the immune system making it tough to fight off disease. Because of advances in medicine, it is entirely possible to treat this disease with the hope of recovery. Several years ago it was not the case, if you got the disease you could plan on dying.

Some of the symptoms of lymphoma are:

* Painless swelling of lymph nodes in your neck, armpits or groin
* Persistent fatigue
* Fever and chills
* Night sweats
* Unexplained weight loss — as much as 10 percent or more of your body weight
* Coughing, trouble breathing or chest pain
* Loss of appetite
* Itching
* Increased sensitivity to the effects of alcohol or pain in your lymph nodes after drinking alcohol

Please be aware of the symptoms and DO NOT HESITATE to see a doctor if you suffer from any one of, or a combination of these!

Please pray for this young man, his wife and their entire family. It is a trial I would not wish upon anyone and they need all the prayers they can get.

Neil & Kristy's Wedding 02-12-2010

Friday the 12th of February was the big day! The wedding was beautiful. Lots of red roses everywhere...mmmmm....smelled good. The colors were black, white/silver and red. The food was great, the tables were beautiful. Unfortunately, I was not smart enough to get a picture of the tables and such... :( Neil, Kristy and her family did a TON of hard work and it paid off. They should all be professional wedding planners. Here are a few of the pictures I did get.

Wedding Cake I did last June...

I invited Neil and Kristy over for dinner last night so we could discuss the wedding cake I will be starting on Thursday. It made me remember the last wedding cake I did and decided to put a picture of it on my blog.

The bishops wife asked me if I would be interested in doing a cake for her daughter-in-laws sister. I reluctantly said yes, not because I didn't want to help, but because I get so crazy when I make a cake for anyone. I worked mostly with the mother of the bride and she was very accommodating to my lack of skills and/or experience. They were trying to keep costs to a minimum so she decided she wanted just frosting instead of fondant...problem was...bride wanted ribbon around the cake. Frosting and ribbon don't mix well because the frosting moves as you try to attach the ribbon.

My poor family has to deal with my insane-ness (is that a word?) and my panic attacks and my nervousness but they are so great to give me love and encouragement along the way when they probably really want to smack me upside the head! Here is the finished product...I will post pics of Neil and Kristy's cake soon!

The Many Faces/Phases of JoJo

My JoJo has always had big, beautiful, luscious lips...and she could turn the pout on from the time she was a wee little baby!

Isabella Sky Moon Fry Mitchell has surgery...

Our little Izzy girl had some surgery on the 3rd of February. We had her spayed, her hernia fixed and all her shots given. Then the vet said she had a baby tooth that was bad enough it needed to be pulled to prevent more severe problems in the future. Poor pitiful little thing was drooling all over Alex and Jordan when she came home. She was held as much as she would let the girls hold her.

WTH?

It has been forever and a day since I have updated my blog and I am a little embarrassed about the whole thing! LOL I think it was right around the time I was introduced to Facebook that the blog thing went in the toilet. Well, I am back and I will be updating the blog from time to time...I PROMISE!

Our Ward had a Pinewood Derby Competition Families This Year.

When I heard that our ward was doing a Pinewood Derby this year I thought it would be fun to go and watch the races, I didn't think anything about us putting a car together. Mike had different plans because he was ready and willing to get it done. I agreed to getting a car for the competition if I could decorate it really pretty with nice girlie stuff...and of course he let me have my way. We had to add some weight to our car once we got there so there is some "other stuff" glued on it that wasn't there during the designing proces. We didn't win any of our races but we did win a certificate for Funniest Car...Mike was offended but I thought it was great. Mike wanted number 111 for our car because that's what all of our birthday's add up to, but our official number was 7.

7 Year Anniversary Celebration...
